Recognizing Texas’ Elected Leaders Committed to ESAs
We’re proud to recognize Texas' principled legislators who are unwavering champions of expanding ESAs.
These legislators who support ESAs understand the significance of empowering parents. They recognize that every parent should have the freedom to choose the best educational path for their child. These legislators stand for parental choice, putting the decision-making power where it belongs - in the hands of parents.
Texas is home to passionate elected officials who are pushing the legislation of education through their support for empowering parents with school choice. These dedicated leaders are driving change, empowering parents and students with educational options, and advocating for a more inclusive educational future for all Texas families.
"We must recognize that a one-size-fits-all approach does not address the diverse needs of our diverse student population. Taxpayers are either going to pay for some of these kids to go to prison or they are going to pay for these kids to have an incredible education opportunity that suits their needs.”
“This bill is not a mandate where someone is disenfranchised if there’s not a private school option in their area. The moms and dads will seek the best education opportunities for their child and zipcode will not hold them back from doing so, I guarantee you.”
“We will continue to support public education with increased funding, as we have every biennium but the sub-prime crash.”
“This is the right thing to do. Not every student can thrive in the same educational environment … this is what we need to support.”
“This package of legislation infuses historic new funds into public schools, raises the basic allotment and provides immediate across-the-board raises for Texas educators. The future of Texas begins in the classroom, and it is incumbent on lawmakers to unleash the potential of education for the 6 million students we serve.”
Tweet: the Texas Senate Passed Universal School Choice. Today, after over 8 hours of debate, the Texas Senate passed SB 1, providing universal school choice to Texas students. This legislation empowers parents and unleashes the potential of Texas education.

“Texas must break down financial barriers between kids and access to the best education available. When parents are empowered to choose the education opportunity that works best for their families, Texas children win. Over 30 states already have some form of school choice. It’s time to empower parents so Texas can lead in education.”
“If funding limits the number of children who can participate in the program, priority will be given to siblings of students already in the program and students who participate in special education services and qualify for free and reduced lunch. Additional groups will follow if there are more funds available.”

Great job @CreightonForTX passing #SB1 education savings accounts! I have been working on passing school choice under Lt. Gov @DanPatrick ’s leadership since 2015 voting for and passing out school choice bills from the Texas Senate and SB 1 is by far the best universal school choice bill that we’ve passed out of the Senate. 60k plus Texas parents will have a new choice for their students if the Texas House agrees to make for the education of their children. Student outcomes for school choice have been shown to be better in 84% of 187 national studies. ESA’s ROCK!!
As I always say, what gets measured gets fixed! Senate Education chair @CreightonForTX ’s SB 1 Educational Savings Account is a new choice for Texas parents. We are adding ANOTHER choice for them in addition to charter schools, private schools, parochial schools, home schools that along with public schools that are already educating our 6+ Million Texas Students because we’ve learned from other states that ESAs work! Also don't believe any reference to, inference of, or any nonsense that #ESAs have ANY HISTORY WITH racism or segregation! ESA’s are 21 century solutions to give Parents and Students another Choice to get the best education possible now, and in the future! What a HUGE win for Texas education! #txlege #txed @TPPF @txvalues
